A citizen of Armenia is among those that were taken hostage in Algeria, a representative of the Islamist militants told Al Jazeera television, RFE/RL Armenian service said quoting Agence France-Presse (AFP) news agency reports.     

The militants that attacked an Algerian gas plant confirmed to having taken 41 people—including citizens of Armenia, the United States, France, Norway, and Great Britain—as hostages.  

“We demand that the Algerian armed forces be removed from the area of the plant to commence negotiations,” a militant said.
