YEREVAN. – According to current costs, the freight through Iran-Armenia railway will be profitable if the volume of transferred cargo reaches more than 3.5 tons. At the moment the annual cargo turnover, which is carried out through the southern border of Armenia (with Iran), makes about 640,000 tons.

To note, the Armenian Minister of Transportation and Communication Gagik Beglaryan signed on Jan. 18 a tripartite memorandum with South Caucasus Railway CJSC as well as a Dubai-based Rasia FZE investment company. The two projects cost $3 billion.
