YEREVAN. – A foreign country is applying pressure on the presidential contenders of Armenia. Presidential candidate Andreas Ghukasyan stated this to news reporters on Thursday, commenting on the recent decision by the Voice of Russia radio station (PHOTOS).

To note, the aforesaid radio station decided to suspend, as of February 1, the rebroadcasting of its programs from the airwaves of Armenia’s Radio Hay Company, and Ghugasyan is Radio Hay’s assembly chairman.

In his words, they have evidence to prove that Ghukasyan’s hunger strike against fake elections in Armenia is the real reason for this decision and, by breaching the contract terms with Radio Hay, the Russian radio company has unilaterally severed the working contract.

“This is an example that a [foreign] state is attempting to exert pressure on a presidential candidate. We have collaborated with the Voice of Russia for a long time, and I assess this move very negatively,” Ghukasyan stated.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, Andreas Ghukasyan is on a hunger strike ever since January 21, and he demands from the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia to declare the ruling Republican Party presidential candidate, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan’s formal nomination null and void.
