YEREVAN. – Armenia is among the world’s top three manufacturers of earthquake-resistant cushions, Retine Noruyt (Rubber Novelty) Company Director Gagik Ignatosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.   

The earthquake-resistant cushions are special rubber devices that are installed in the foundations of the buildings to increase the level of their resistance to earthquakes.   

As per Ignatosyan, these “cushions” are already exported to Iran, and other countries likewise have shown an interest. These devices have been installed in fifteen buildings in Armenia, and they are being installed in several others.  

Gagik Ignatosyan also informed that his company has proposed to the Government of Armenia to launch a national program for increasing the earthquake resistance of the country’s buildings.
