YEREVAN.- A liturgy in commemoration of the victims of the March 1 tragic events was held in St.Sargis church in Yerevan.

The ceremony was attended by hundreds of citizens, among them renowned civil and political activists. Among the gathered are head of Armenian National Congress faction Levon Zurabyan, MPs Aram Manukyan, Lyudmila Sargsyan, Gagik Jahangiryan, Nikol Pashinyan and chairman of Stepan Demirchyan People’s Party of Armenia.

Leader of Heritage party Raffi Hovannisian was present at the ceremony, too.

After the ceremony, participants marched to the Myasnikyan monument, where they laid flowers to honor memory of the March 1 victims.

Armenian opposition did not recognize official results of the presidential election held on February 19, 2008. Leader of the opposition Levon Ter-Petrosyan organized rallies in the Liberty Square, in the center of Yerevan, which lasted until March 1. Thousands took to the streets demanding that official election results should be canceled. Ten people, including two law enforcers, became victims of confrontation.
