ISTANBUL. – Istanbul police arrested an Armenian, by the name of Murat Nazaryan, who is suspected of carrying out violence against elderly Armenian women in the city.  

The 40-year-old suspect, who was detained in Istanbul’s Fatih Municipality, had committed similar offenses in the past, too, Posta daily of Turkey reports.  

The Turkish law enforcement found the most important evidence as a result of a laboratory test of the blood that was found in the purse of Marissa Kucuk, the elderly Armenian woman that was killed on December 28, 2012 in her home. It was found out that the blood belonged to Nazaryan. It is also noted that the eyewitness accounts and the security camera recordings in the area likewise “speak” against the suspect.  

Murat Nazaryan initially denied all charges but, following the blood test results, he confessed to his crimes.    

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, as a result of the attacks against elderly Armenian women in Istanbul’s densely-Armenian-populated Samatya district since December 2012, aforesaid Marissa Kucuk was brutally killed, two others lost one of their eyes, and an attempt was made to kidnap another.
