YEREVAN.- The U.S. Embassy’s mission is to help Armenia succeed as a democratic prosperous and secure country, Ambassador John Heffern said on his video blog.

U.S. Ambassador summed up his visit to the Armenian Diaspora communities in Los Angeles, San Francisco Boston and New York last December.

“Armenian Americans are very interested in the Republic of Armenia today and the challenges facing Armenian people,” he said.

As to the Embassy’s mission, they are promoting internal reforms, by helping Armenia develop options and by keeping Armenia looking west.

“The embassy and its partners are promoting internal political, economic and social reforms. We want to help Armenia to develop options because no country can be dependent on only one border, or only on one partner. This option includes integration with other countries in the region and closer cooperation with the west,” he added.

The United States want to deepen economic ties through trade and investment. US investment here is of high quality, especially in IT science and technology designed to transform Armenia in the 21 century knowledge-based economy.

“Shared values are foundation of true partnership, so we continue to promote reforms in the areas of democracy and governance. Armenian officials push for more US trade and investments. I agree. Key to the effort is a better business climate, more competition, more transparency and more rule of law,” Ambassador Heffern said, expressing hope to be able to announce new partnerships later this year.
