YEREVAN. – Armenia’s National Security Council (NSC) Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan on Thursday received a delegation led by Gunnar Wiegand, the European Union Chief Negotiator for the ongoing Armenia-EU Association Agreement talks.

Baghdasaryan noted that the aforesaid negotiations are nearing their final phase. In addition, the talks, with respect to signing an agreement on the creation of the Armenia-EU Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, are continuing productively, NSC press service informs.

The interlocutors noted that the objective of both Armenia and the EU is to finish the Armenia-EU Association Agreement negotiations—including the ongoing talks with respect to the creation of a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area—before the Eastern Partnership summit to be held in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, in November.

Baghdasaryan and Wiegand also underscored the Armenia-EU agreement that was signed regarding visa facilitation to EU countries.

They also reflected on the discussions with respect to forming an Association agenda.

The European Union Chief Negotiator highly appreciated the work done by the Armenian party.
