YEREVAN. – The Armenian Government-Affiliated General Department of Civil Aviation (GDCA) will permit the flights of civil aircrafts to Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) capital city Stepanakert, GDCA Head Artyom Movsisyan said during a press conference on Thursday.

“The flights will be in accordance with the rules and requirements of international organizations. A lot depends on the active work by the aviation authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh; if they finish the work, we are ready,” Movsisyan stated, but he declined from giving any specific dates.

He also informed that the Stepanakert Airport is nice and beautiful; it is small yet sufficient enough for passenger transportation. The runway is in good condition; the criteria are fully sufficient in terms of flight safety, but there are some small technical issues associated with aircraft maintenance.

Artyom Movsisyan added that NKR does not have airplanes of its own, and therefore the aforesaid flights will be conducted by nineteen-seat aircrafts belonging to Armenia. The flight duration will be 45-50 minutes.
