Virtually all Turkish media have widely covered the Turkish authorities’ decision to cancel—without even having started—the direct flights between Armenia’s capital city Yerevan and Van, Turkey.

The flight, which was to commence on Wednesday, would have invigorated tourism and trade between both countries, Sabah daily noted. It also informed that the flight tickets’ booking functions still exist in the official website of Turkey’s Borajet Airline, which was to conduct the flight.

“Those in charge at the [Turkish] Transport and Telecommunication Ministry confirmed that the flight is frozen, but they informed nothing about the reasons,” Milliyet daily wrote.

The strong reactions coming from Azerbaijan could be at the basis of this decision, Yeni Şafak daily reported.
