YEREVAN. – With its present-day modus operandi, the movement led by Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party Chairman, former FM Raffi Hovannisian—who was declared runner-up to the winner, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, as a result of the presidential election that was conducted on February 18, but who claims to be the real winner in the vote—ought to bid farewell to politics. Ruling Republican Party (RPA) MP Karine Achemyan stated this during a press conference on Wednesday.

To the query as to which positions RPA is willing to surrender to Heritage, she responded that Heritage could demand the presidential and ministerial positions without having a platform, and this is childish.

“We, on the other hand, have earned that position by running in the elections. Let them likewise form such force to be able to take part in the country’s governance,” Achemyan said.

She also expressed a conviction that the Heritage Party will lose many votes in the Yerevan Council election, which is slated for May 5.
