The “Armenian Golgotha” exhibition dedicated to the 98th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, opened at the Calouste Gulbenkian hall of Ayartun Cultural Centre at Armenian Apostolic Church Diocese in Tbilisi.

Overall, 60 works of 35 Georgian and Armenian artists were presented to the public. At the welcoming speech the head of the “Irakli the Second” Society Archil Chkoidze paid homage to the memory of victims of the Genocide, and called on the Georgian authorities to respect the pain of the neighboring Christian people and to recognize the Armenian Genocide of 1915 and mount the monument in the memory of the victims of Genocide.

Their protests against an unjust and indifferent attitude of the world community expressed writer and translator Givi Shakhnazarov, Georgian president’s adviser, editor of Georgia newspaper Van Bayburtyan, director Michael Grigorian, and historian Yenok Tadevosyan. The chairman of the Union of Armenian Artists of Georgia Meruzhan Shahumyan and chairman of the Society of Young Artists of Javakhk Haykazun Karagulian presented artists whose works have been recognized as the best ones. The youngest participant of the exhibition has been recognized Christina Bagdatsyan. Third place took Lilith Arsenyan, second went to Ani Kananyan, and the first prize was awarded to Mariam Tiluhyan with her work “The Weeping Woman”. The exhibition will be open till April 30.
