YEREVAN.- Armenia’s presidential election was a test for the country’s democracy, PACE delegate Rene Rouquet said.

During the spring session, PACE delegates discussed a report on the presidential election in Armenia presented by Karin Woldseth.

In his speech, Rouquet underscored some improvements, in particular access to media, at the same time noting that there is a lot of work to be done.

In her turn, Marietta de Pourbaix-Lundin told about serious violations during the voting process. The commission members did not check identity of the voters at the polling stations, she stressed.

She believes to help Armenians, PACE delegates must tell the truth which is not fully reflected in the report.
