Seven years have passed since the Armenian civil aircraft disaster that occurred nearby Sochi, Russia.

On May 3, 2006, an Airbus A320 that belonged to Armavia Airline Company, which is Armenia’s national carrier, was conducting a flight between Armenian capital city Yerevan and Sochi. But the plane disappeared from the radars at the airport of Adlersky City District, Russia, not being able to fly for six more kilometers.

There were 100 people, including eight cabin crew and five children, in the aircraft.

The search for the victims lasted for several days.     

In line with the data of the Armenian Government-Affiliated General Department of Civil Aviation, the aircraft was in excellent technical condition and the cabin crew was well-qualified.

According to the investigation report, adverse weather conditions and the human factor were the causes of this tragedy.
