YEREVAN. – In 2011, the Institute of Geological Sciences of Armenia and Academia Sinica of Taiwan had signed a five-year memorandum on conducting geological, seismological, active tectonics, and volcanic research in the Caucasus.

To this end, corresponding equipment were imported to Armenia on the basis of the “Temporary Import” customs regulations. In line with the customs procedures, these equipment were imported for a one-year period, but they need to be used in the future, too.

The Institute of Geological Sciences has petitioned to the Government of Armenia with a request to extend, for three more years, the respective customs term of these equipment.

With the proposal by the Ministry of Economy, the Government’s corresponding draft decision is included in the agenda of Wednesday’s interim Cabinet session.
