The idea of integration among the South Caucasus countries is good wishes because, taken separately, these countries are not interesting for investors and the rest of the world.

Georgian political scientist Alexander Rondeli told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am, commenting on Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili’s recent statements concerning the creation of a united South Caucasus Region.

“I believe it is just a very good wish for the future, since the reality is quite different,” Rondeli stressed.

Responding to the query with respect to Saakashvili’s statement that the future of the region will be settled in Azerbaijan, the Georgian political analyst stressed that this statement is linked to Azerbaijan’s oil, natural gas, and political orientation because this country should remain open for the entire world.

“I believe this statement was made from the viewpoint that Azerbaijan is a country that is rich in energy resources. This means Azerbaijan plays a crucial role in the region owing to its geographical position, but, first and foremost, to its energy potential,” Alexander Rondeli concluded.
