YEREVAN. – An earthquake measuring 6.2 magnitude hit Iran, on Saturday at 6:08am local time, 177 kilometers east of Bandar Abbas city, the National Seismic Protection Service of Armenia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations reports. 

The tremor measured 7 magnitude at the epicenter area and its hypocenter was thirty kilometers beneath the surface.    

Mahmoud Mozaffar, the Head of Aid and Relief Operations at the Iranian Red Crescent Society, informed that eleven people were injured in the five inhabitation areas that were seriously affected by the earthquake. In his words, some buildings have completely collapsed. 

Rescue teams are sent to the quake-hit regions.
