YEREVAN. – Armenian authorities must resign unless they are able to meet demands of the people and create normal living standards, protesting farmers said. (PHOTOS)

Armenian farmers blocked Armavir–Yerevan road demanding compensation to cover the damage caused by a hail storm.

The action was joined by former presidential candidate Andreas Ghukasyan who pledged to be the last to leave the road.

“The president and the premier must fulfill the demands of the people and take appropriate measures against natural disaster. They have resources for all sorts of unnecessary things, but they do not do anything for their own people,” one of the protesters told Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent.

Another protester, a resident of the Armavir village, said the authorities are not close to the people. “They must resign,” he added indignantly.

Unless they demands are fulfilled, farmers plan to march to the presidential administration during the next protest action.
