YEREVAN. – A service investigation is launched into the incident that occurred recently in the Noyemberyan military unit in Armenia’s Tavush Region, where a soldier was killed.

The Defense Minister’s spokesperson, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, confirmed this information to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Information will be provided on the results of this investigation, and they will become clear sooner than the outcome of the criminal case.

And, along the lines of the service investigation, there will be dismissals, too.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, serviceman Lyuks Stepanyan was killed in the aforesaid military unit on May 15. The parents of the solider had decided to bring Stepanyan’s body to capital city Yerevan to learn from Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan the true reasons behind their son’s death and to stage a protest in front of the Armenian Government Building.

On their way to Yerevan, however, they clashed with the police and damaged the police cars that were preventing them from heading to the capital. Subsequently, Stepanyan’s parents held talks with Defense Minister Ohanyan, Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan, and Military Prosecutor Gevorg Kostanyan, who had arrived on the scene.

As a result, the parents decided to turn back and return to their home village, where Lyuks Stepanyan’s body was laid to rest.
