ETCHMIADZIN. – Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II on Thursday received Swiss Ambassador Konstantin Obolensky, who is ending his diplomatic mission in Armenia.

Karekin II thanked the ambassador for his years of service in Armenia and efforts toward strengthening Armenian-Swiss ties.

He underscored the need for further developing the relations, reflected on the Armenian community in Switzerland, and expressed his gratitude to the Swiss authorities for their caring disposition toward this community.         

Also, the Catholicos expressed satisfaction with the Swiss authorities’ attention paid toward the current problems in the region and their steps taken to surmount these challenges.       

The interlocutors reflected on the efforts, by the spiritual leaders of the countries of the region, to establish peace in the region, and the Armenian Apostolic Church’s planned activities in connection with the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
