The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) may impact the Nagorno-Karabakh talks with optimism alone.

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia MP, head of the Armenian delegation at PACE, Davit Harutyunyan told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am. He commented on PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon’s recent statement that 2013 may become a crucial year for the Nagorno-Karabakh peace talks.

In Harutyunyan’s words, some hopes may be attached in connection with PACE’s participation in these negotiations, but the key format of these talks is beyond its scope.

“The main mission of PACE is first and foremost the fight against xenophobia, [and] second is the creation of an atmosphere of mutual trust. Hence, we welcome the assistance initiative of our European partners, but PACE has no direct connection to the resolution of the conflict,” Davit Harutyunyan noted.
