YEREVAN. – The opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) issued a statement and informed that it will stage a demonstration against the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

“Taking into account the fact that the international community’s—in this case, PACE’s—inadequate response is a reason for permissiveness in Armenia, the criminal governance of the country, [and] the violation of fundamental human rights, the Youth Union of the Armenian National Congress will hold a protest on [Friday,] May 31, at 1:30pm, across the main entrance of [capital city Yerevan’s] Armenia Marriott Hotel, where a PACE Standing Committee session will be convened.

Tolerance toward the vicious phenomena will allow the Armenian citizens to assume that the PACE Standing Committee has reached a criminal agreement, with the illegitimate rule of [President] Serzh Sargsyan, in plundering Armenia.

We make a call to address the current situation in Armenia and to adhere to the principles that PACE has adopted, [and] to contribute to the restoration of constitutional order and the establishment of a true democracy in Armenia,” the ANC statement reads, in particular.
