YEREVAN. – PACE delegate from Turkey Nursuna Memecan said her country wants peace and stability in the region.

“We want Turkey-Armenia and Armenia-Azerbaijan relations to normalize. We want to contribute to it as much as we can and I hope you will do the same thing. The Armenians and Azerbaijanis should have the same kind of support for normalization”, the PACE member told reporters in Yerevan.

Speaking about Armenia-Turkey protocols, she expressed hope that the documents “will come back.”

Asked whether Ankara wants to ratify the documents, Nursuna Memecan said “Turkey wants to ratify” once again noting that she was hopeful about rapprochement. However, Turkish delegate refused to name the reasons why her country had not done it so far.

She said it is her second visit to Armenia’s capital and added “it is good to see that Yerevan is developing.”

PACE Standing Committee held a meeting in Yerevan on Friday. Armenia is holding the chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
