YEREVAN. – PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon said he is not going to make judgments on conclusions of observers who monitored elections in Armenia.

Commenting on reporter’s question about opposition claims that elections were rigged, Mignon said this is not the opinion of the observers that monitored the elections.

“All observers said everything went well. There is majority and opposition in parliament just as in other countries. This is what is called democracy,” he emphasized.

Only a few years ago Armenia was a part of the Soviet Union, he recalled.

“We cannot expect Armenia to be rapidly compliant with all standards of the Council of Europe. We will give Armenian government the time it needs to carry out reforms,” PACE President said.
