YEREVAN. – The gala concert, which was held recently in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan in honor of Charles, Prince of Wales, received rave reviews among musical circles.

During his talk with Maestro Ohannes Tchekidjian, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of The State Academic Choir of Armenia, Prince Charles had expressed his astonishment at and satisfaction with the concert of the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia, in which The State Academic Choir likewise took part. The Prince of Wales was overwhelmed by the high professionalism of the choir and the orchestra, alike.

“In my view, our young conductor Sergey Smbatyan surpassed himself during the concert, and the orchestra elevated yet another level. The concert was held at a high level. I surrendered my place [on the stage] to young Sergey Smbatyan, and he conducted the whole concert as it should be, for which I am very happy,” Maestro Tchekidjian stated.

To note, Charles, Prince of Wales, paid a private visit to Armenia between May 28 and 30.
