YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan on Tuesday received Vasken Kaltakjian, head of the State of Louisiana branch of the Armenian Council of America.   

To note, it is through the efforts by Kaltakjian that the resolution supporting the independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) was introduced to the Senate of Louisiana. 

Hakobyan thanked Kaltakjian and the 100 Armenian families that live in Louisiana, and who actively participate in the social and political life of the State of Louisiana, the Diaspora Ministry press service informs.

To note, with the proposal by the Armenian community of Louisiana, the aforesaid resolution was put to a vote at the Senate of Louisiana on May 30. And despite Turkish pressure, the resolution was adopted. As a result, Louisiana became the fourth US state that adopted a resolution on the recognition of NKR’s independence.
