YEREVAN. – The Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situation (MES), together with the French Embassy in Armenia, on Saturday will conduct an earthquake drill in capital city Yerevan.

In line with the scenario, a 7.1-magnitude earthquake will hit nearby Garni village of Armenia’s Kotayk region. As a result, great “devastation” will take place in Kotayk and Ararat Regions and in Yerevan. The French Embassy will decide to evacuate its citizens by air. To this end, the citizens will gather in predetermined locations and be transported to Erebuni Airport.

The objective of this drill is to improve the French Embassy staff’s practical skills in informing and organizing the gathering of its citizens, and to synchronize the collaboration between MES and the embassy.
