A bill, with respect to recognizing the mass annihilation of the Armenians in the Ottoman Empire, is registered in the Verkhovna Rada (Supreme Council; i.e., the Parliament) of Ukraine.

Arsen Avakov, Vilen Shatvoryan, and Nver Mkhitaryan are the persons behind this law proposal.

April 24 is proposed to be marked as Genocide Remembrance Day in Ukraine, Avakov wrote in his Facebook account.

The bill notes that the genocide issue is contemporary for Ukraine, Svodka.net writes.

It is suggested that Ukraine recognize the Armenian Genocide at a state level, “to condemn such crimes and to prevent them in the future, and to respect the memory of the victims of the tragedy.”
