ETCHMIADZIN. – Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II received world-renowned Spanish operatic soprano Montserrat Caballé. 

Karekin II welcomed Caballé’s visit to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the spiritual center of the Armenians, and noted that her visit to Armenia has caused great passion and enthusiasm among the Armenian people, the information system of the Mother See informs.    

In her turn, Montserrat Caballé stated that her visit is a pilgrimage, and she called Armenia the open heart of the Christian faith. 

The Catholicos and the famous opera singer also reflected on the history of the Armenian Church and the avenues for developing relations between the Armenian and the Spanish peoples.  

At the end of their talk, the Catholicos of All Armenians gave his blessings and extended his best wishes to Montserrat Caballé.

In addition, Caballé toured the museums of the Mother Cathedral and the Mother See.
