YEREVAN. – Armenia’s victory over Denmark was not an unexpected development for the head of football federation Ruben Hayrapertyan.

Talking to reporters on Wednesday, Hayrapetyan said the players “did what they had to”, noting that during the previous matches they showed a poor game, but on Tuesday they simply did their job.

Hayrapetyan pointed out neglects, including numerous mistakes in defense, especially in the first half.

“Young defender played better than the experienced one,” he emphasized.

The federation was doing everything, he said, to help the players overcome psychological problems after the Malta match. Head of the federation believes no staff changes are needed, except for the changes in player’s way of thinking.

As regards the criticism against the federation after horrible match against Malta, Hayrapetyan said “it is normal” as he is number one responsible for football.

Asked whether he wants to resign, Hayrapetyan said: “Frankly speaking, I do. You want me to, and if people want something, I do it.”
