YEREVAN. – The Information Technology (IT) sector puts several tasks before the Government of Armenia.

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan noted the aforesaid during his welcoming remarks at Friday’s official opening of the sixth annual DigiTec Business Forum that kicked off in capital city Yerevan.

As per the PM, the first task is personnel training. The IT sector in Armenia has a 15-20 percent annual growth, and therefore it demands at least 1,000 specialists per year from the institutions of higher education. To this end, the Government decided to give the IT sector a priority in the country’s education system.

The second task is the implementation of e-government, which is a substantial impetus for the development of the IT sector in Armenia. Several respective steps are already taken and they have given positive results.

The third direction is the tax and customs administration. The contacts between the submitters of tax reports and the tax officials are reduced, and this system has become transparent and controllable.

Armenia’s PM also underscored the cooperation between the state and the private sector of Armenia.
