YEREVAN. – Mayor Taron Margaryan of capital city Yerevan met with US Ambassador to Armenia, John Heffern.  

Underscoring the high level of Armenian-American relations, the mayor welcomed the US Embassy’s and the ambassador’s active involvement in the events being held in Yerevan, and expressed willingness to assist the initiatives.  

“There are cordial relations between Yerevan and the US partner cities. I am confident that they will expand further and we will have a successful cooperation,” Margaryan stressed.  

In his turn, Ambassador Heffern congratulated Margaryan for being reelected Mayor of Yerevan, and expressed a hope for new opportunities to broaden collaboration between US Embassy and Yerevan Municipality.  

“I congratulate you, Mr. Mayor, and wish new accomplishments in your work,” the US ambassador specifically noted.

Upon the request of the American diplomat, the mayor reflected on the recent Yerevan Council of Elders election, its activities, and the development programs of the capital city. He also stressed that the Municipality stands ready to assist in the implementation of investment projects in Yerevan.    

Taron Margaryan also spoke about tourism development, the environmental programs of the Armenian capital city, and several other matters of mutual interest.
