One of the main priorities of Armenia’s chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe is fight against racial discrimination, xenophobia and hatred. This was stated by Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian during his address to the PACE summer session on Monday.
He assured that Armenia will continue the efforts of previous chairmanships on establishing democracy, protection of human rights and rule of law. Armenia supports ongoing activities on no-hate speech campaign.
Minister Nalbandian stressed that in the age of modern technologies hate speech emerged on the web and is affecting younger generations. Armenia fully joined no-hate campaign to protect human rights on the web as well.
He also said that Armenia attaches importance to proper implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights and proper functioning of law.
“Armenia is ready and willing to cooperate with PACE to realize objectives of the organization and strengthen dialogue between the Committee of Ministers and the Assembly,” he concluded.
