YEREVAN. - Armenia and Russia signed a treaty to develop military and technological cooperation and agreement on cooperation and exchange of information on border issues.

Secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan summed up the visit of his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev during the Tuesday press conference.

Noting significance and effectives of Russian counterpart’s visit to Yerevan, Baghdasaryan said five signed agreements and treaties are a firm basis for further cooperation between the states.

He noted that a new treaty of military and technological cooperation is a serious document and had been worked out in several years.

Secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council added serious steps would be taken on the joint use of space, improvement of Garni observation point and the Byurakan Observatory.

A protocol was signed on Monday after talks between the Secretaries of the Security Councils of Armenia and Russia. The sides signed the program of action for the establishment of joint Armenian-Russian Center for Humanitarian Response, a protocol on cooperation in the field of geophysical services.

Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and Secretary of National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan were awarded the Medal of the Federal Service on Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia. The Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev was awarded the Medal of the National Security Council of Armenia. Patrushev and Ohanyan exchanged symbolic gifts.
