YEREVAN. – The official launch of the “Reducing the Use of Prison Sentences, in Accordance with European Standards” program will be held on July 1 in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan.

This program is made possible by the funding as a result of the good will of the Government of Norway.  

The objective of this program is to make Armenia’s prison system comply with the European Prison Rules and other recommendations of the Council of Europe (CoE). Specifically, the CoE probation rules, the standards of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture, and the precedents of the European Court of Human Rights.
