YEREVAN. – Armenian driver involved in a fatal car crash in Russia is recovering, Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan said.

During his trip to Moscow, Armenian Ombudsman met with Hrachya Harutyunyan in jail.

“He is recovering gradually and is coming out of his depression. Hrachya was even smiling when we talked about his family,” Andreasyan told reporters on Tuesday.

As to giving testimony, Ombudsman noted that the man fell into a deep depression after the accident and it is inexpedient to conduct an interrogation now.

Andreasyan thanked Armenian Embassy in Russia for preparing the meetings, adding it required heroic efforts. He had a meeting with the head of the Union of Russian Armenians Ara Abrahamyan.
