YEREVAN. – The 22-year-old Armenian citizen has flied to Baku “by mistake.”

The young man went to Ukraine to visit his relatives, Ukrainian Airlines told Armenian News-NEWS.am. At Boryspil Airport, customs officers revealed some problems with documents and it was decided to deport him immediately.

However, the zeal of airport staff almost turned into a tragedy when Asatur Khachatryan was seated on a plane heading to Baku “by mistake.” Fortunately, the young man was not stopped and was safely seated on a plane going back to Kiev after he spent several hours in the transit zone.

Currently Khachatryan is in Kiev. The Ukrainian authorities let the young man stay with relatives.

According to representatives of the Ukrainian Airlines in Baku, Khachatryan was provided with food and protection. He called his parents as soon as he arrived in Kiev on Friday morning.
