YEREVAN. – There is a sharp increase in the cement exports from Armenia.

In line with official customs data, a total of 92,200 tons of cement were exported from Armenia in the first half of 2013, and this is almost double the results in the first half of last year.

It is noteworthy that Armenia’s cement is exported solely to Georgia.

The aforesaid is interesting in the sense that, according to the Armenian National Statistical Service data, cement production in Armenia has reduced by 3.5 percent and made up about 180,000 tons so far this year. Thus half of the cement being produced in Armenia is exported to the neighboring country.
