YEREVAN. – Along the lines of his working visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met with Iran’s new President Hassan Rohani, on Monday in Tehran.   

The Iranian president thanked Sargsyan for accepting his invitation and attending his inauguration, informs the Armenian Presidential Press Office.

Serzh Sargsyan again congratulated Rohani for becoming the President of Iran, and wished him productive work and new success.

The two presidents discussed bilateral and multilateral relations. They stressed that the Armenian-Iranian cooperation is quite intense and underscored the need to make this collaboration reach a higher phase.    

The interlocutors also reflected on regional matters; specifically, the current situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.  

Presidents Sargsyan and Rohani also recalled their earlier talks as secretaries of the national security councils of Armenia and Iran, and they expressed willingness to work in the same spirit to deepen the Armenian-Iranian cooperation.
