Famous Ukrainian historian and publicist Viktor Shestakov expressed his support to the initiative on Armenian Genocide recognition by the Verkhovna Rada.

“Systematic extermination of the Armenian population was conducted in the 19th century, too.  National and political genocide was accompanied with military genocide, that is military crimes,” the expert told Analitika.at.ua.

As informed earlier, a bill on the Armenian Genocide’s recognition was registered on June 6 in the Verkhovna Rada (Supreme Council; i.e., the Parliament) of Ukraine. Rada members Arsen Avakov and Vilen Shatvoryan are the persons behind this law proposal, and the Armenian MFA has expressed its support to this initiative.
