YEREVAN. – Peace Corps volunteers will work in Armenia in two main areas: English language training, community and youth development.

Thirty American volunteers passed 11-month trainings in Armenia to study the Armenian language and culture, training manager Liana Amirbekyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am. She noted that those responsible for English language will live in different towns and cities across the country to work at schools and educational institutions as English teaches. The second group will work in various non-governmental organizations in Armenia.

Armenian culture is attracting the volunteers who are also willing to share their culture and enrich the existing experience, she explained.

“The group of volunteers consists of completely different people: there are people with a working experience of over 30 years or young professionals who have recently graduated from college,” Amirbekyan said.

One of the volunteers, Liam Zaie said he would move to the city of Sevan where he will work as an English teacher at school.

“Armenians are very warm and hospitable people with a rich culture. We are all very excited with our work in Armenia in the next two years,” he emphasized.
