YEREVAN. – Unfortunately, Armenia continues to remain as a mere responding party; the country needs to pass to a proactive policy.

Armenia’s first Human Rights Defender Larisa Alaverdyan stated the aforesaid during a press conference on Saturday.

She expressed a hope that the time will come when Armenia will act as an independent subject of international law.

In Alaverdyan’s conviction, Nagorno-Karabakh has become a very interesting factor for security and stability in South Caucasus.

“Karabakh is turning into a political factor,” she noted.

Reflecting on the matter of the Armenian soldier who is held captive in Azerbaijan, Armenia’s First Ombudswoman stressed that the accountability in this matter falls squarely upon the Azerbaijani authorities.

“The International Committee of the Red Cross’ role, as an international organization, increases here,” Alaverdyan stated.

In addition, Armenia’s first Human Rights Defender called upon Azerbaijan to show a sensible approach in this matter, and she stressed that the Quran says: Good deeds shall be done on holidays.
