YEREVAN. – Armenia-Iran relations will remain as favorable as they are now, political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan said commenting on election of President Hassan Rouhani.

“In political terms, there is simply no further opportunity for improvement of Armenia-Iran relations, as the current level is the most favorable,” he told reporters on Thursday.

As for economic cooperation, Iskandaryan is confident there are great opportunities for development.

“Contrary to popular belief, Iran is a country with a serious degree of protectionism, they have a very specific legislation. The country is mainly closed to the rest of the world, including Armenia,” he noted.

For example, Armenia is permitted to energy market, but at the same time is banned from others.

Alexander Iskandaryan expressed the hope that the development of economic relations between Armenia and Iran will go further, noting that it is largely dependent on the financial component.
