Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II addressed Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Allahshukur Pashazade in connection with the captive Armenian soldier.

Catholicos urged Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims to take moves in order to release the captive and send him back to Armenia.

Another address was sent to the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill.

Armenian soldier Hakob Injighulyan (born in 1991) found himself in the territory under the control of the adversary. According to preliminary information, Injighulyan turned up there on August 8 at around 3am, while carrying out his military service, by crossing the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic-Azerbaijan border, and as a result of losing his orientation in the area.

Injighulyan was taken to Baku the next day. Inventing a variety of pretexts, however, Azerbaijan put off a talk between the soldier and the ICRC representatives. Also, an “interview” with Injighulyan was recently aired on Azerbaijani media. Such actions by the Azerbaijani side are a flagrant violation of the Geneva Conventions
