YEREVAN. – This year Yerevan Thermal Power Plant (TPP) could receive electricity by burning coal.  

Armenia’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Armen Movsisyan stated the aforementioned Thursday during a briefing with news reporters.

To note, the preliminary activities on working with coal began in 2012. The coal from Maghavuz Mine in Nagorno-Karabakh will be used at Yerevan TPP. The confirmed coal reserves constitute 4 million tons. Two units of Yerevan TPP will be operated with coal, and 2,000 tons of coal will be used on a daily basis.
