Slovak and Czech telecoms regulators TUSR and CTU have won the European Union’s (EU) tender to transfer electronic communications regulation knowhow to six CIS countries.

The countries in question are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, Telecompaper reports.

TUSR and CTU jointly won the tender by the European Commission for the project to develop NRAs in Eastern Partnership countries.

TUSR experts have organized training for regulators in the countries included in the Eastern Partnership on the implementation of the regulatory framework in Slovakia, with relevant market analyses and a concrete example of wholesale broadband access. This covered the process from market analysis, SMP operator designation and imposing remedies. Another topic was interconnection rates regulation for call termination in fixed and mobile networks.

The organizational part of the seminars is provided by advisors PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

The project is financed by the EU.
