YEREVAN. – The process of canonizing the Armenian Genocide victims will be completed by 2015, Bishop Arshak Khachatryan said.

Arshak Khachatryan summed up the work of the recent Bishops’ Synod of the Holy Armenian Apostolic Church, adding that the next meeting will be convened next fall.

“Canonization is a spiritual process. Most likely it will be a canonization of a group of people as they gave their lives for the Motherland and religion. The ceremony will be conducted by Catholicos Karekin II,” Bishop said during the Friday press conference.

He noted that precise figures are not mentioned, but much more than 1.5 million Armenians were killed during the genocide perpetrated in the Ottoman Empire.
