YEREVAN. – The Armenian Apostolic Church decided to create a foundation to help the poor of Armenia, Karabakh and Armenian community of Syria.

The charitable foundation has $2 million on its account and will receive funds from the Armenian communities, Archbishop Narek Alemezyan said. All-Armenian event will be held to raise funds for the poor, he added.

Speaking about the damages the Armenian church suffered in Syria, Archbishop mentioned Memorial complex to the Armenian Genocide victims in Deir ez-Zor and Surb Gevorg church in Aleppo.

Archbishop is hopeful that the Armenian community of Syria will not spare efforts to restore the Armenian monuments as soon as the hostilities are over.
