At least fourteen people died and twenty others sustained injuries in Mexico, as a result of a bus falling into a canyon, Xinhua news agency reports.

The accident occurred when a passenger bus, which was traveling on a highway, fell into a 50-meter deep canyon, Gazeta.ru reports. 

The injured were transported to local hospitals, the local police inform.     

The cause of the accident is being determined. 

According to preliminary data, the driver had lost control of the bus while accelerating on the road.
