Terrorism occurs where there is no tolerance, which leads to radical nationalist sentiments in society, Armenian Deputy Speaker Edward Sharmazanov said at a meeting of the standing committee on defense and security of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly in St. Petersburg.

Addressing the participants, Sharmazanov noted that the fight against terrorism is on the agenda of the CIS countries, including Armenia. He also expressed regret over the fact that in CIS area there are still countries sowing inter-ethnic and inter-religious enmity.

He stressed that some CIS countries, considering certain nations their enemies, are sowing hatred in new generations. He also noted that the emergence of terrorism contributes to the arms race and belligerent calls aimed at resolving confrontation.
